Most people learn estimating on the job, by being handed someone else's spreadsheet and told to fill it in. That teaches the sheet and not the craft. The PoPs Estimating Course is built around doing the work: reading drawings, measuring them, asking for prices, and putting a bid together.
How the course works
You practice on a complete project with a full set of drawings. You take off your own quantities, and the drawings do not hand you the numbers. You request quotes from vendors and wait for the answers, including following up when one goes quiet, the way it happens on a real bid. Then you build the estimate.
What it is, and what it is not
It is a very low-cost course for people who want to learn estimating, covering the trades one at a time as each is finished. It is released a piece at a time as it is built. It is not accredited, and it does not promise a license, a degree or a job. The material is reviewed for accuracy by a working estimator and project manager.
